One of the best things about buying a smartphone, and particularly an Android operating system based one, is the amount of applications which are available for them. There is literally something for everyone, from the most serious to the most fun and everything in between.
Whilst there are apps which need to be paid for, there are also hundreds of free android apps which are equally as good, if not better. They are simple to download, by either visiting the Android marketplace or visiting a website specialising in them.
The Android system is a more open one than its closest rival Apple. Whilst Apple was arguably the field leader and innovator, this has now changed. More developers are willing to write apps for Android, and indeed, it has recently surpassed Apple in popularity. Apples closed system neither encourages developers or users to experiment with their devices and what is possible.
With literally thousands of applications available, it can be great fun finding and downloading them. Most websites, including the Android marketplace divide their applications into categories to make them easier to find, such as Business or Games.
If you find an application that you like, then it is a nice idea to write a review about it if you have a chance. This way those people that come after you may be able to determine whether or not it is worthwhile downloading something. Who knows, maybe you could even write an app which was a review app!! That would be a great idea!
